Korean Skincare First Impressions: The Ultimate K-Beauty Review
Korean Skincare was totally unfamiliar to me. Until this year, I never even thought about Korean Skincare. As a Black woman living in America, the thought never crossed my mind. But, as a student of trends on Tik Tok, I had to check out all of the buzz on these skin toner pads. I purchased a two-pack of Jiyu Skin toner pads and promised myself to stay with it for at least 30 days. And now, I’m happy to share my first impressions.
- Korean Skincare Ain’t Cheap
The cost of the Korean Skincare Skin Toner pads can range from $40 – $60 for 1 jar of the Jiyu Toner Pads. That seems very expensive. But then when you look at using 1 pad a day, then it’s just $30 per month to help your skin glow. Maybe that’s not as expensive as I first thought. For women who use makeup regularly, you will probably need to use more than one pad a day because makeup can get into your pores.
2. Use toner pads after you wash your face
When it comes to skin care routines, we need to know when to use the skin toner pads. After you wash your face and it dries, then you wipe the pad over your face. Then, you would add your moisturizer. These pads are easy to use and work fast.

3. Your face glows after just a few uses
I don’t know what is in this product but it leaves your face with a glow. Even if you have hyperpigmentation or large pores, your face is going to glow. I’ve never had a product which makes my skin glow, so this was completely new to me.
4. It shows you imperfections that you may have missed
There are areas on my face that I thought were hyperpigmentation but it was actually a skin tag. So, this product helps you to see what is really going on with your skin. Same goes for a darker areas on my skin which ended being hair. It exposes it all and I think this is great. It reminded why I need my face waxed!
5. It works on sensitive skin but…
For sensitive skin, you may have to do the pads every other day or use the pads and make sure you moisturize daily. I have sensitive skin and if I use them every day but forget to moisturize, my skin will itch a little. The itching is caused by dryness. These work best for my skin when I use them 5 days a week and make sure that I’m moisturizing.
6. My skin is softer than it’s ever been before
My skin is simply softer to the touch and I like it. I don’t know that it means my skin is healthier, but it certainly feels better. I enjoy that bonus of using this product.

7. People of all races can use this product
As a Black American, I never thought to use Korean Skincare products. I simply never thought it was for me. But, after this, I will never discount another product simply because it doesn’t seem like I’m the audience. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this product worked with my skin.
8. Other people may have better results than you but…
Everyone’s skin is different. I’ve seen lots of people on Tik Tok promoting this product. Some of them have really great results. But, we don’t know if they’ve ever had skin issues before. I’ve had skin issues on and off in my life and I still think this is a wonderful product to add to my skin care routine. It certainly brightens my skin. And though I might not have the same result as someone else, I’m still having a great result.
9. It works on hyperpigmentation but…
Everyone’s hyperpigmentation may respond at different rates. You can look at a testimonial video that someone says it helped clear their skin in 21 days and someone else will say 30. I’ve noticed a reduction in hyperpigmentation for myself. However, it’s taken longer than 21 days.
10. I’ve reduced wearing makeup in my Tik Tok videos
Because of this product, my skin is much clearer in my videos. So, I do not use as much makeup or foundation. Sometimes I skip makeup altogether. This product is the reason why. When I started to use this product I was concerned about two things: hyperpigmentation and smaller pores. I believe this product has reduced both.

11. I recommend this product.
For improving the texture, brightness and softness of your skin, I recommend this product. I am taking before and after photos to see if my hyperpigmentation continues to improve. I believe my pores are smaller as well. This was an experiment certainly worth my time and I will continue to use this toner pads.
