11 Ways To Know That You’ve Found Your Life’s Purpose

I don’t know about you, but whenever I see people who seem to be working in their life’s purpose, I think, “Wow, look at how blessed they are.” I think, “It must be great to know why you are here on this earth.” Seeing people who know what they are doing and why they are doing it, is such an inspiration to me.

I did some research to understand how other people are finding their life’s purpose. I relate to so many of these and wanted to share them with you as well.

Here are 11 ways to know that you’ve found your life’s purpose:

  1. You feel fulfilled and energized: When you are living your purpose, you feel a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment, and your work energizes you. This is because this is where you see your work as an expression of who you are. Being motivated to be a business owner, for example, shows that you want to provide a unique impact on the public sphere. This desire drives you.

  2. You are motivated and committed: You have a strong sense of commitment and motivation toward your goals, and you are willing to put in the hard work to achieve them. For example, if working in retail makes you want to do it, and do it correctly, that shows a life’s purpose.

  3. You are passionate: You have a deep passion for what you are doing, and you feel a strong sense of connection to your work. For example, you understand that your life purpose involves music if you can easily dive into playing or listening to it.

  4. You feel a sense of belonging: You feel like you are part of something bigger than yourself and that your work has meaning and purpose. For example, being on a baseball team makes you want to feel unified with the rest of your team.

  5. You have a positive impact: You see the positive impact your work is having on the world around you, and it brings you joy and satisfaction.

You’ve found your life purpose when you feel a strong sense of commitment to your goals.

6. You are authentic: You feel comfortable being yourself and expressing your true values and beliefs through your work. For example, if your life’s purpose is teaching, you don’t have to “pretend” to want to instruct students.

7. You are resilient: You are able to weather challenges and setbacks because you believe in the value of what you are doing. Note that every challenge in life requires some resilience, but if you would rather overcome that one challenge over any other challenge in your life, you’ve found your life’s purpose. For example, managing a YouTube channel can be tricky, but your perseverance to complete and upload content shows that that is your life’s purpose.

8. You are willing to take risks: You are willing to take risks to pursue your goals because you believe in your purpose and your ability to succeed. For example, raising a family is like a lifelong road trip, filled with speed bumps and potholes. Will to triumph over this in your life means you’ve seen yourself achieving that goal entirely, regardless of the taxes, arguments, or hard decisions involved.

You’ve found your life purpose when you can weather the challenges because you believe in the value of what you’re doing.

9. You have a clear sense of direction: You have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and the steps you need to take to get there. This also shows that went as far as to develop a clear sense of direction. For example, knowing all of the classes and/or programs necessary for a kinesiology major shows determination to complete that objective.

10. You are constantly growing and learning: You are always looking for ways to improve and grow, and you feel excited about the opportunities for learning and development. The phrase “Can’t teach an old dog new tricks” doesn’t mean anything to you because you already understand that you won’t stop learning. If football is your life’s purpose, you continue learning how to be a better football player.

11. You feel at peace: You feel a sense of inner peace and contentment, knowing that you are living a life aligned with your purpose and values. For example, someone whose values align with keeping people in their area healthy would find more peace as a doctor than as a banker.

Life is a journey. And though it may take us our entire lifetime to find our life’s purpose, be encouraged and use these tools.
